OBITUARY: Margaret Aileen Jackson

Margaret Aileen Jackson, age 92, passed away peacefully at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6. 2014, at Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg.

Margaret was born to the late Thomas and Mary Theresa (McCabe) Bundren on Jan. 2, 1922, in Williamson County. During World War II Margaret moved to Chicago where she initially was employed by Wrigley's Manufacturing Company. She later worked for General Motors at an aircraft factory as a riveter in the war effort. Returning to Southern Illinois after the war, Margaret was employed as a punch press operator at the Ordinance Plant in Marion.

On Oct. 30, 1948, Margaret married Everett Jackson of Pope County, at Equality Catholic Church. They subsequently moved to Harrisburg where they made their home.

Margaret was preceded in death by Everett, her husband of 64 years, her oldest child Cecilia Yvonne Jackson Gavrielle, her parents, and seven siblings.

She is survived by five children: Karen (Jerry) Yaris, Deltona, Fla.; Rose (Scott) Cloyd, Mount Dora, Fla., Aaron (Janie) Jackson, Eldorado, Menthia Jackson, Harrisburg and Janice (Dr. Steve) Aldridge, Harrisburg. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Courtney Souder (Michal), Brittany Baugher (Kirk), Alexis Jackson, Joey Jackson (Katie), and Ben Cloyd; and two great-grandchildren, Braxtyn and Annistyn Baugher, who were a bright spot in her life during her later years.

Margaret was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar Society for many years. She loved flowers and house plants, and could grow almost anything. She immensely enjoyed her volunteer work at Harrisburg Medical Center and Choisser Soup Kitchen in Eldorado.

Visitation will be at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home, Carrier Mills on 4 p.m. to 7 p.m Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, with the Rosary at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be said by Father Tom Barrett at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Harrisburg 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014. Burial will follow at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Cemetery, New Burnside, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are the family's preferred choice of remembrance and may be made to: Southern Illinois Alzheimer's Association, 320 E. Walnut St. Carbondale, Ill. or to the Choisser Soup Kitchen Locust Street, Eldorado, Ill. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
