House in Walsh declared a total loss after fire
WALSH -- A house on Diskey Lane in Walsh was declared a total loss on Thursday after a morning fire.
Sparta Fire Chief Brian Adams said his department received a call of a structure fire at 8684 Diskey Lane at 9:05 a.m.
"The fire was spotted by a neighbor," Adams said. "The occupants were not at home."
Sparta fire fighters were the first ones on scene, while Chester, Steeleville, Ellis Grove and Evansville fire departments were toned to provide tanker assistance.
"They were toned more for their water supply because we were out in the middle of nowhere," Adams said.
Adams said the cause of the fire is undetermined at the time.
"We did bring the fire marshal in because he's handy and he lives in Sparta," Adams said.
