Du Quoin police keeping their eyes on Keyes City Park
In recent days the Du Quoin Police Department have been called to Keyes City Park on everything from youth fights to excessive littering. Its a beautiful place carved out of hard work and planning. Between the garden club flowers, the playground equipment, the bandstand and the nearby tennis and basketball courts it is a place to be proud of and take care of. That said, summer groundskeepers last week picked up two or more 30-gallon trash bags full of trash that were NOT left behind by concert goers, but rather by daily park users. Concert organizer Dane Mason had his own cleanup crew. Except for being in well-lighted areas, no one should be in the park. A simple, friendly reminder from Chief Jamie Ellermeyer: "We're watching."
