OBITUARY: Wanda Proffitt Roark

Wanda Proffitt Roark, age 89 of the Ledford community, passed away at 3:03 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014, in Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Wanda was born in Saline County on Nov. 13, 1924, to the late Vollie and Elsie Oglesby McDermott. She married Charles Proffitt on June 21, 1942, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 1990. She married Roger Roark on November 25, 2000, and he survives.

She is survived by her husband Roger; and a grandson, John Proffitt of Harrisburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; son, Johnie Proffitt; three brothers, Wesley McDermott, Bertis McDermott and Arthur McDermott; and one sister, Norma Louise Ledbetter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills where friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Joe Poirot will officiate and burial will be in Lindale Cemetery at Eldorado.
