OBITUARY: Esther Lillian Hollingshead

Esther Lillian Hollingshead, 85, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Saline Care Center in Harrisburg.

She was born March 30, 1929, on Easter Sunday (and was so named), to the late George and Blanche Hollingshead in Medford, Wis.

The youngest of six, she was preceded in death by sisters, Gladys and Grace; brothers, Russell and Lloyd who both served in World War II and in which Lloyd was lost as a P.O.W. and now is remembered at Arlington National Cemetery and Gerald, who served in the Korean War. All siblings were blessed with artistic talent, including Esther who enjoyed playing the piano and drawing.

She lived with Aunt Grace and Uncle Bonda Keltner and their daughter, Faye, in Missouri from age 6 through high school graduation, becoming the Valedictorian. She dealt with schizophrenia all her adult life and was lovingly cared for by staff at Saline Care Center, so very appreciated by her family! She is also survived by her childhood cousin Faye Souter and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Sunset Garden Cemetery. The Rev. Scott Johnson officiated.
