Weather delays new Pinckneyville hospital

Weather has cost a total of 22 days since work began on the new Pinckneyville Community Hospital. Based on NOAA averages, Robins & Morton had planned for 17 days without productivity due to weather. There were three additional days in April and two additional days in May.

The lost days moved the target completion date from April 10, 2015 to May 12, 2015.

Robins & Morton Superintendent Jimmy Hunter said that the subcontractors were ahead of schedule before the additional weather delays.

If the weather cooperates, there is potential to make up some of the lost time.

Sean Wofford of Robins & Morton said the delays have cost $94,773 which will come from the Robins & Morton contingency fund.

The hospital's contingency fund will pay for $239,897 in approved changes. The changes include the drain changes per IDPH regulations, and changes to the kitchen to allow more equipment to be moved into the new facility. The board also approved digging a ditch on the south side of the berm separating the hospital site from Jane and Ray Cheek's home. Ray Cheek has complained that the berm is causing drainage problems on his property.

Additional changes to provide oxygen to the sleep clinic, add dowel baskets at paving construction joints on the roadways and add an equipment hoist for rooftop access will be approved at next month's Owner/ Architect/Construction Manager meeting.

Hospital Administrator Tom Hudgins said that he expects PCH will have to add to their contingency fund, which began at $700,000. He said CFO Kara Carson is prepared to move $500,000 to the contingency fund.

PCH and AgStar will sign the final financing documents for the project at 10 a.m. on July 3 at the hospital.
