Harrisburg levee deemed "minimally acceptable"
At the regularly scheduled Thursday meeting Harrisburg City Council heard a report of a routine Army Corps of Engineers Inspection that found the levee system to be in "minimally acceptable condition."
Correction of five deficiencies needs to completed to avoid loss of inclusion in the Rehabilitation and Inspection Program under public law 84-99.
During the meeting, council:
Approved a small property swap with Todd and Stephanie Church that settled a boundary problem.
Approved the survey of two parcels at Veterans Drive and state Route 13.
Approved an ordinance authorizing and approving a redevelopment agreement by and between the City of Harrisburg and Andy Freeborn. The property is 820 Dorris Heights Road and the ordinance approves its use for low cost housing. Total project costs are $2,400,000 according to attached documents.
Approved an ordinance agreement between the city and Scott Stout for the reroofing and awning reconstruction of 218 E. Poplar St. (Wooded Hills Bar and Grill) as part of the Downtown Tax Increment Finance plan. Council approved the ordinance agreement. Total project costs are $125,500.
