OBITUARY: Doris Jean Crowder

Doris Jean Crowder, 89 of 732 N. Mill St., Carrier Mills, died 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday June 6, 2014, at Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills. There will be no public visitation all friends should meet at the cemetery. The Rev. Joe Daniels will officiate. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills have been entrusted with the arrangements.

She was born on March 21, 1925, in Carrier Mills to the late Gus and Beatrice (Harris) McDonald.

She married Harry Crowder in October of 1949 and he preceded in death on May 14, 2004.

She graduated Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with a bachelors degree. She began teaching at Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School where she taught for 38 years.

She is survived by two sons: Brad (Angie) Crowder of Carrier Mills and Brent (Lisa Henson) of Carrier Mills; five grandchildren: Casey Crowder, C.J. Crowder, Jonah Crowder, Kayla Crowder and Gus Crowder; one great-grandchild: Briella Crowder; and daughter-in-law: Jane Crowder of Harrisburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Harry Crowder; and infant son: Gregory Lee Crowder.
