OBITUARY: Mary E. Oxford
Mary E. Oxford, age 82, longtime Ridgway resident, died on Friday, April 25, 2014, in the Ridgway Rehab and Nursing Center.
Mary was born in Junction on Feb. 27, 1932, to the late Virgil and Katherine (Loewen) Mead. She was lifelong grain and livestock farmer. On Nov. 16, 1950, she married Bud Oxford who preceded her in death in 1975. Together, they raised, bred and raced thoroughbred race horses. Mary loved being outside and working on the farm, but most of all enjoyed fishing at her beautiful lake near her home.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Judy (Robert) Taylor of Cleveland, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Barbegine Smith, formerly of Ridgway; and a special person, Kert Pemberton who has helped her on the farm for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a son, Jim Oxford.
Visitation for Mary will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway with her funeral service to immediately follow starting at 1 p.m. The Rev. Randy Davis will officiate and interment will follow in the Oxford-Rutherford Cemetery near Cave-In-Rock.
