Prep Softball: Eldorado falls in season opener

The Massac County softball team opened the season with a 10-0 win over Eldorado Tuesday.

The Lady Eagles scratched out one hit against MCHS as Caitlyn Stafford was the leadoff hitter was the only Eldorado player to register a hit against Brittany McFall.

Michaela Laswell (0-1) took the loss in the circle for Eldorado, going four innings and allowing 10 runs (four earned) on nine hits, while walking four and striking out four.

McFall took the win (1-0) going five innings, giving up just the one hit, while striking out 10.

Massac County jumped out with three runs in the bottom of the first and followed it up with a five-run second inning. The Lady Patriots tacked on two more runs in the third for the shutout win.

Eldorado returns home Thursday to play host to Wayne City, slated for a 4 p.m. start.
