'The Giver' trailer gives insight into Hollywood's interpretation of beloved young adult novel

The Weinstein Company film studio released the trailer for its upcoming film "The Giver" Wednesday, March 19.

The trailer features actors Jeff Bridges, Katie Holmes and Meryl Streep. Taylor Swift has also been confirmed as a member of the cast.

The best-selling young adult, fiction novel will come to theaters Aug. 15. The book, written by Lois Lowry, was published in 1993 and was the winner of the 1994 Newbery Medal, which is awarded for distinguished contribution to children's literature.

While some fans expressed excitement for the upcoming movie, the trailer brought hesitation and even frustration over the appearance of color in the trailer, a concept that does not exist in the book.

"I was expecting black and white in the beginning too. It seems they have changed quite a bit. Hoping for the best," Shilpa Patil wrote on "The Giver Movie" Facebook page.%3Cimg%20src%3D%22http%3A//beacon.deseretconnect.com/beacon.gif%3Fcid%3D154890%26pid%3D46%22%20/%3E</group><group id="F3C40D4A-055F-4B4F-AE8B-3025281E0DE4" type="seoLabe
