OBITUARY: Tamela "Tammy" Kay Conn
On Sunday, March 16, 2014, Tamela "Tammy" Kay Conn, devoted wife, loving mother and cherished daughter, sister, aunt, friend, colleague and teacher passed away in a fatal car accident at the age of 44.
Tammy will forever be remembered by her husband of 20 years and best friend, Paul Conn, their precious children, Logan Conn, 16, and Carson Conn, 14; by her proud parents, Jerry and Virginia Mosby; and her brother and sisters, Roxie Doerr (Mark Doerr), Mark Mosby (Nancy Mosby) and Michelle Mosby-Scott (Michael Scott). Tammy will also be remembered by her mother-in-law, Penny Conn.
Her father-in- law, Donald Conn predeceased her. Her love of life will be forever remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, brother and sisters in-law, extended family, colleagues, students and dear friends. Her passion for life was evident to everyone through her bright smile, her engaging personality and the joy she brought to those she touched. Although she will be greatly missed, all who knew her feel blessed to have had her in their lives.
Tammy Conn was a third grade teacher at Hardin County Elementary School for 21 years. She was blessed with a passion for teaching and a love and commitment to her students. She also served as athletic director and was committed to helping students achieve success both academically and athletically. She was actively involved as a teacher and leader in Hardin County. She graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1991 and received her masters degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1997. Her first love for Hardin County School commenced in 1980 when she first attended elementary school there as child.
Visitation honoring Tammy's life will be held at Hardin County School 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014. Funeral services will also be conducted at Hardin County School 1 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, with burial services to follow at Peter's Creek Cemetery. A dinner will be served at Paul Conn's home for all family and friends who wish to congregate following the services.
Memorial donations in memory of Tammy may be made to the "Tammy Conn Memorial Education Fund" through Area Bank in Elizabethtown. Said donations shall be used initially towards the college education of Logan and Carson Conn, her extraordinary children, who brought daily joy to her life.
The outpouring of family, friends and community support to Tammy's family during this difficult time has been appreciated beyond words.
