OBITUARY: Herschel R. Hiller

Herschel R. Hiller, 79, resident of Eldorado passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, at Brookstone Estates in Harrisburg.

He was born May 14, 1934, in Carterville to the late Ray and Avis (Robertson) Hiller. He married the former Geraldine Tanner who preceded him in death. He worked for Eldorado Manufacturing and later was an area manager for General Electric Carbon Products. He was a member of the Eldorado First Baptist Church. He was an associate member of the Eldorado American Legion Post 169 and a member of the Saline County Country Club.

Herschel is survived by a son, Mark (Marcia) Hiller of Harrisburg; a daughter, Cathy (James) Tucker of Eldorado; grandchildren, Mark A. Hiller, Heather J. Vaughn, Michael Tucker, Emily Shaw and Zachary Tucker; great-grandchildren, Lilli Shaw, Moriah Vaughn, Dylan Vaughn, Jaden Tucker and Jonah Hiller.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a sister, Ramona Talley.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. Randy Plunkett officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Thursday to service time.

In addition to flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
