New jewelry artist signs on at the Du Quoin Library of Arts

The new Du Quoin Library of Arts on South Washington Street in Du Quoin is excited to welcome Ashley Greer as an instructor at the library. Her first classes on jewelry-making will be March 21 and 22.

Everyone will make necklaces to take home. If you don't wear jewelry it will make a lovely handmade gift. The cost of both sessions is $30 for non-members and $27 for members. There is a $5 fee for supplies.

A new print-making class April 4, 11 & 25 will consist of three sessions, the first two will be carving and planning the design and the last one will be actually pulling prints.

Ashley will show different methods: wood-carving, linoleum tile and intaglio (done on plexiglass) so that students can choose which method to try.

Only 10 students can be accepted for the class so register early. Please call he library at 618-790-4036 or email libraryofarts@gmail.com to register.

If there is enough interest, Ashley will do more classes. Please let the library know so it can keep a waiting list.The classes will be held:

Friday, April 4 from 4-7 p.m., Friday, April 11 from 4-7 p.m. and Friday, April 15 from 4-7 p.m.

Since Friday, April 18 is Good Friday, the library will be on Easter break that weekend.

The cost of the entire series is $50 for non-members and $45 for members. Supplies will be furnished free for the first session.
