OBITUARY: Margaret Toth Tanner
Margaret Toth Tanner, 93 of Harrisburg, went home to be with her Heavenly Father at 1:52 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014.
She passed away peacefully with her children and minister holding her hand at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Margaret was born Oct. 13, 1920, in Harco to Peter and Julia January Toth. She married J.R. Tanner on Nov. 17, 1972, who survives her at Shawnee Rose Care Center where she faithfully cared for him daily until her passing.
Margaret retired after 37 years as business administrator of Harrisburg Medical Clinic. Prior to that she worked in the Saline County Treasurer's office and Endicott's Excel Market. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a 50-plus year member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a Kentucky Colonel. She enjoyed gourmet cooking, gardening and was an avid reader.
Margaret is survived by three stepchildren, Connie (Larry Carpenter) Robinson and Patti (Rupert) Johnson, both of Harrisburg and (JR) Greg (Jennifer) Tanner of Marion; seven grandchildren, Nichole (Chris) Arnett and Kimberly (Michael) Edwards of Bowling Green, Ky., Roshia Johnson, Navarro Johnson and Nyma Johnson, all of Harrisburg, Haley Tanner of Evansville, Ind., and Madison Tanner of Marion; her 11 great-grandchildren; and her special close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Peter.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Rev. Elizabeth Moses officiating. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
