OBITUARY: James Carlie Summers Jr.

James Carlie Summers Jr., 83 of Eldorado, died March 10, 2014, at his residence in Eldorado.

He was born in Harlan Co, Ky., on April 7, 1930, to the late James Carlie Summers Sr. and Lottie Elizabeth Young Summers. He was an army veteran and he worked as a coal miner.

He is survived by three sons, James Summers of Eldorado, Larry Summers of Eldorado and Donald (Kathy) Summers of Eldorado; three daughters, Rosemary (James) Daily of Eldorado, Karen (Earl) Carter of Princeton, Ind., and Teresa (Wade) Abell of Eldorado; 29 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ronnie (Barbara) Summers, Charlie (Helen) Summers of Fairview Heights and John (Rosemary) Summers of Belleville; five sisters, Gail Dyke of Enon, Ohio, Pam Schaffer of Enon, Ohio, Peggy Kimmel of Ft. Collins, Colo., Janice Gross of Cottonwood, Fla., and Margie Presley of Nixa, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rema (Freels) Summers, on May 5, 2009; a son, Carl Anthony Summers, on April 3, 2011; two grandsons Dereck Summers and Justin Summers and two sisters, Carleen Cornett and Beulah Young.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado. Burial will be on Cottonwood cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the funeral home.
