OBITUARY: James Carlie Summers
James Carlie Summers Jr., 83, of Eldorado, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at his residence in Eldorado.
He was born in Harlan County, Ky., on April 7, 1930, to the late James Carlie Summers Sr. and Lottie Elizabeth Young Summers. He was an Army veteran and he worked as a coal miner.
He is survived by his children: three sons: James Summers of Eldorado, Larry Summers of Eldorado and Donald (Kathy) Summers of Eldorado; his three daughters: Rosemary (James) Daily of Eldorado, Karen (Earl) Carter of Princeton, Ind., and Teresa (Wade) Abell of Eldorado. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren and 30 grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers: Ronnie (Barbara) Summers, Charlie (Helen) Summers of Fairview Heights and John (Rosemary) Summers of Belleville; five sisters: Gail Dyke of Enon, Ohio, Pam Schaffer of Enon, Ohio, Peggy Kimmel of Ft. Collins, Colo., Janice Gross of Cottonwood, Fla., and Margie Presley of Nixa, Mo.
He was preceded in death by a son Carl Anthony Summers on April 3, 2011. He was also preceded in death by two grandsons: Dereck Summers and Justin Summers.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado. Burial will be on Cottonwood cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the funeral home.
