OBITUARY: Margaret A. Smith

Margaret A. Smith, 79, of 705 S. Granger St., Harrisburg, died 10:55 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be held Friday from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery and Bishop Derek Eurales will officiate.

She was born on Sept. 9, 1934, in Carrier Mills, to the late David Daniel and Irene (Cross) Griffin.

She married Franklin Clayton Smith in 1954 and he preceded in death in 1989.

She was a member of the First Opportunity Freewill Baptist Church in Carrier Mills.

She is survived by three children: Jeffrey (Laura) Smith of Harrisburg, Tamala Smith Crain of Harrisburg and Terrence (Angela) Smith of Carrier Mills; sister-in-law: Veleria Griffin of Carrier Mills; nine grandchildren: Gus Zertuche, Joe Zertuche, Cassie Smith, Corey Williams, Cherice Parker, Micaela Flemmings, Jeffrey F. Smith, Shenica Smith and Michael Smith; 14 great-grandchildren: Pharoah, Asha, Jasmine, Casha, Racheal, Nick, Paige, Abby, Anniston, Macy, Arcelia, Antonio, Gabe and Sergio.

She was preceded in death by five brothers: Cecil Griffin, David Griffin Jr., Leo Griffin, Theopolis Griffin, L.C. Williams; five sisters: Anna Mae Rouse, Theda Duncan, Etta Lard, Colleen Mott and Eleanor Bell.
