Eldorado school board honors Ken Haney
Local McDonald's owner and philanthropist Ken Haney was honored by the Eldorado Community Unit 4 school board Thursday evening for his many contributions to the Eldorado schools.
Haney was presented with a plaque by Superintendent Ryan Hobbs.
Eldorado High School sophomore trumpet player Sarah Baldwin modeled the new band uniform for the board and the board in turn approved the purchase of matching shoes for the uniforms at $18.93 a pair for 60 pairs, a total purchase price of $1,135. The board approved the purchase.
The board accepted a letter of retirement from Marsha Agin, an aid at the elementary school.
The board heard a report from Karen Boulds regarding the fifth grade trip to the St. Louis Arch. Students have raised $6,000 for the trip. The board approved the use of two school buses and drivers for the trip scheduled at the end of May.
Ed Kerkhover requested permission to apply for a $50,000 state matching grant for maintenance. The board approved the request.
At the beginning of the meeting the board approved a revised letter of resignation from Jeff Cox.
