OBITUARY: Kathryn Lorene Estes

Kathryn Lorene Estes, age 85 of Harrisburg, passed away at 3:20 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home in Carrier Mills with family by her side.

Kathryn was born on Thursday, May 3, 1928, in Saline County to the late Roy and Grace Ann (Younger) Reynolds. She married Everett E. Estes on Oct. 30, 1947, and he preceded her in death on April 17, 2009. Kathryn was a member of Dorrisville Baptist Church.

Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Janice Estes of Harrisburg; son, Gary Estes and wife Dana of Harrisburg; daughter, Dena Estes Elam and husband Greg of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Jason Duensing of Red Bud, Sarah Duensing of St. Louis, Mo., Nathan Duensing and wife Amanda of Chicago and John Estes and wife Kylie of Burlington, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Davin Schatte, Derek Schatte, Noah Duensing and Hayden Duensing. The family gives special thanks to caregivers Pat Parkinson, Debbie Russell, Sherree Potts, Melinda Williams and others.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett; sister, Paulette Reynolds in infancy; and cousins, Bill and Gertrude Jennings, who were raised in the family home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Dewayne Taylor will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
