OBITUARY: Bruce L. Taborn
Bruce L. Taborn, 65 of 924 W. Lilly St., Harrisburg, died 8:06 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at the Landmark House of Praise in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be held after 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be Lakeview Cemetery and Pastor Ronald Williams will officiate. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is entrusted with the arrangements. Military Rites will be performed by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions and the Army National Guard Ritual Team.
He was born on Jan. 23, 1949, in Carrier Mills, to the late Lorenzo and Christine (Gibbs) Taborn.
He worked as Texas Eastern Electric Company for many years and also was a coal miner.
He was a Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam Era.
He attended Landmark House of Praise in Carrier Mills.
He is survived by two daughters: Amy (Jim) Jackson of Harrisburg and Shelly Cook of Washington, D.C.; stepdaughter: Rietta Miller of Harrisburg; three brothers: Kelly Taborn of Hickman, Ky.; Dean Taborn of Carbondale and David Taborn of Carrier Mills; two sisters: Ramona Williams of Palmyra, Ind., and Ruth Taborn of Carrier Mills; special friend: Paula Motsinger of Harrisburg; three grandchildren: Tylar Jarrett, Jaylen Jarrett and Victoria Tison all of Harrisburg; four stepgrandchildren: Mason Sloan, Roman Moore, Laken Miller and Lotte Miller all of Harrisburg; aunt: Pauline Berry of Chicago and former wife: Charlotte (Mason) Taborn of Harrisburg.
He was preceded in death by five brothers: Tyrone Taborn, Dahl Taborn, Orville Taborn, Terry Taborn and Don L. Taborn; two sisters: Marlice Crittendon and Pauline Curry; and a stepson: Anthony Moore.
