OBITUARY: Bill E. Borders

Bill E. Borders, 85 of Harrisburg, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Saline Care Center in Harrisburg.

Bill was born on June 15, 1928, in Saline County to the late Charles and Zelma (Shelton) Borders. On Aug. 26, 1948, he married Barbara Seten and she survives. Bill was a graduate of HTHS Class of 1946. Bill was retired from the Peabody Coal Company and was a member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church.

Surviving family members include his wife: Barbara Borders of Harrisburg; son: Gary (Kimberly) Borders of Marion; son: Greg (Donna) Borders of Harrisburg; daughter: Karen Borders of Florida; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014. at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Art Watson will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
