OBITUARY: Henry "Hank" Collins III

Henry "Hank" Collins III, 22, of Carrier Mills, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, in New Orleans, La.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be held 1 p.m. Saturday until service time. The Rev. Donnie Duncan will officiate and burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date.

He was born on Jan. 11, 1991, in Frederick, Md., to Henry Collins Jr. and Karen Yvonne Baker-Collins.

Hank was christened as an infant at Bethel AME Church in Baltimore, Md., by Dr. Frank M. Reid III. He later confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized at Baber Chapel AME in Carrier Mills by the Rev. Carl E. Berry.

Hank attended public school in Carrier Mills and the Caribbean School in Puerto Rico. He graduated Bolingbrook High School in Bolingbrook. He later furthered his education at Lewis University in Romeoville.

Hank was adventurous and traveled whenever and wherever he could. He loved to read and learn new things. However, his passion and dream was to one day become a hip-hop lyricist. He had a way about him that touched the hearts and souls of all who came in contact with him. Easy to smile and even easier to love. He referred to all as "friend," whatever the situation.

He is survived by his parents: Henry Collins Jr. and Karen Collins both of Anchorage, Alaska; sister: Alexis D (Antoine) Collins-Harris of Forrest Park; several uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Henry and Rosie Collins Sr. and Leonard and DeAnna (Allen) Baker.
