OBITUARY: Vivien N. Slagus

Vivien N. Slagus, 86 of 145 Naugle Road, Galatia, died 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at the Shawnee Rose Care Center in Harrisburg.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be held 11 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bankston Cemetery north of Carrier Mills. The Rev. Bobby Gentry will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Shawnee Rose Care Center; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

She was born on Feb. 17, 1927, in Williamson County, to the late Albert and Nancy (Huckleby) Burchell.

She was a retired certified nursing assistant where she worked many years at the Saline Care Center in Harrisburg. She loved fishing, gardening and being close to her little homestead.

She attended the River of Life Church in Harrisburg.

She is survived by three daughters: Sandra Williams, Carol Grider and Phyllis Belford, all of Galatia; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
