Barn burns on Brown Road

Firefighters from Galatia and Carrier Mills responded mid-morning of Christmas eve to a barn fire at 33625 Brown Road, about a mile east of Harco Road.

The fire was in a barn owned by Joni Miller, located within 10 feet of the house. In a dual response, firefighters from both agencies contained and extinguished the blaze, successfully protecting the house from damage.

Galatia Fire Chief David Grant was on-scene commander for the effort and stated that there had been no injuries to either the property owners or firefighting personnel.

"All the local agencies work together well, very well." Grant said "We have no problems helping each other out."

The barn appeared to be a total loss, with no cause of the fire determined as of Wednesday morning.

Fire Captain Ryan Grant said the owner was able to remove the machinery from the burning barn before firefighters reached the scene and a burning pile of firewood appeared to be all that remained inside.

Eldorado Fire Department was called for mutual aid of an engine, manpower and to man the Galatia Fire Station.
