OBITUARY: Richard "Dick" Hankins

Richard "Dick" Hankins, 75 of Carrier Mills, passed away 1:52 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at his residence.

He was born on Oct. 4, 1938, in Saline County to the late Arval and Wilma (Hargraves) Hankins. Dick was married to Kathy Jo (Bynum) Hankins. He was also a member of the North America Baptist Church and a Army Veteran. He worked at the Outland Ranch at Broughton before his retirement.

Dick is survived by his wife, Kathy Jo; two daughters, Traci Gibbs and Kellie Mueller; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; three step daughters Denise Kennedy, Billi Jo Headrick and Jennifer Meyerink; two sisters Gene Thompson and Barbara Owen.

He was preceded by his parents and a brother, Robert Hankins. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with visitation Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour of 1 p.m. The Rev. Aaron Phelps and Rev Robert Abbott will officiate with burial in the North America Cemetery. Memorials to the North America Cemetery Fund. Military Graveside rites by the Harrisburg and Carrier Mills American Legion and Marion Honor Guard.
