Today's News: Our Take - Keck's Exclusives: Eric Dane Boards TNT's The Last Ship

It's been more than a year since Grey's Anatomy fans mourned the loss of sexy plastic surgeon Dr. Mark Sloan. But the man who played him, Eric Dane, is very much alive - and back in production as the star of next summer's TNT series The Last Ship . Dane plays Navy Capt. Tom Chandler, who helps rescue humanity after an infectious disease kills most of the world's population.

His most arduous challenge in the premiere? "There's a scene where I try to start my ship by holding a busted fuse in place, knowing that a huge electrical current is going to surge through my body," says Dane, who shot most of his scenes in San Diego on an actual $4 billion naval destroyer. "I end up getting blown back 10 feet into a wall, but it made me feel pretty damn cool."

As intense as that sounds, what Dane's fan base really wants to know is when he'll be flashing some McSteamy-style skin. "I get very dirty," he says. "So I'm sure it's only a matter of time before I have to bathe."
