OBITUARY: Lavada Imogene "Jean" Delap

Lavada Imogene "Jean" Delap, 78, resident of Broughton, passed away gracefully Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado while surrounded by her family.

Jean was born Dec. 11, 1934, in Golden Gate, to the late the Rev. Roy and Bernice D. (Leet) Hudson. She married Bill Lee Delap who survives. She was a homemaker and a member of the Broughton United Methodist Church. Jean's favorite Scripture was Psalm:118:24 "This is the day the Lord has made; Let us rejoice And be glad in it." Jean enjoyed her family, playing the piano, sewing, reversible painting, reading, crafting, feeding her birds and watching her flowers grow. She was an amazing cook and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband of 59 years, Bill, she is survived by two sons, David Lee Delap of Broughton and Kevin Lee (Melinda Lou) Delap of Broughton; a brother, Odis G. (Sherry) Hudson of Mt. Morris; a sister, Joyce N. Hudson Mitchell of Milford Center, Ohio; three granddaughters, Michelle Lee (A. Garrett) Wargel of Equality, Kristina Lee (Andrew B.) Morris of Broughton, Danielle Lee (Dustin B.) Owens of Broughton; and five great-grandchildren, Donovan James Delap, Phaidra Eilidh Delap, Carson Drew Owens, Hunter Andrew Morris and Bailey Ann Morris.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brother-in-laws, Larry Mitchell and Hal Delap.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at the Broughton United Methodist Church with Pastors David Cochran, Bonnie Phillips and Paul Brown officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to service time at the church. The family takes great comfort in knowing that she has been released from the confines of her earthly body, and is now joyously praising Jesus in Heaven.
