OBITUARY: Josephine "Josie" Pinkston

Josephine "Josie" Pinkston, 75 of Shawneetown, passed away 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

She was born on Dec. 3, 1937, in Shawneetown, the daughter of Joe Claude and Alice May (Back) Smith. She married Thomas Ezra Pinkston on March 21, 1960, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 2007.

She was a member of Junction General Baptist Church.

Josie is survived by three daughters, Marilyn and Ray Nally of Morganfield, Ky., Pam and Jerry Bryant of Junction, Debbie and Tim Moore of Shawneetown; two sons, Tom and Gena Pinkston, Charlie and Linda Pinkston of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one sister, Claudia and Jackie Lee Vaughn of Shawneetown; two brothers, James Smith of Brandon, Fla., Elmer Smith of Carmi; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Shelia Pinkston; one sister, Pauline Back; and one brother, Joe Smith.

Visitation for Josie will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22 at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 with the Rev. Michael Rushing officiating. Burial will be at Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown. Memorials for Josie can be made to the Junction General Baptist Church.
