OBITUARY: Delilah R. Vaughn

Delilah R. Vaughn, 73, of Shawneetown, passed away at her home 4:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2013.

She was born on Nov. 3, 1939, in Shawneetown, the daughter of John and Mary Pauline (Smith) Back Sr. Delilah married George P. Vaughn on May 3, 1955, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 1979. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shawneetown.

She is survived by her two daughters, Mary and Tildon Van of Shawneetown, Marsha and Shawn Oldham of Shawneetown; one son, George and Chrissy Vaughn Jr. of Robards, Ky.; two sisters, Roberta Bruner of Shawneetown, Peggy and Paul Hill of Shawneetown; one brother, John and Debbie Back of Dekoven, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Andrew and Brooke Van, Matthew, Cody, Megan, and Morgan Vaughn, Zane Bingham and Eric Barnes; and special friend, Robert Clayton of Carrier Mills.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters, Faye Nation, Rodie Barton, Geri Lockrem and Barbara Sue Back.

Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21 at the funeral chapel with Pastor Jack Hall officiating and burial at Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown.
