Up to $300 in prizes for Elks Chili Cook-off

The Harrisburg Elks Club annual Chili Cook-off is scheduled for Saturday Oct. 5 at the Elks property located at 220 Missouri Street - formerly Lakeside Bar - in Harrisburg.

Ginny Craig of the Elks said that the day long event sponsored by Koerner Distributers will conclude at 9 p.m. when the classic rock band finishes its sets.

There will be a Miss Chili Pepper competition, a $300 first place award for best chili, a people's choice award and second and third place chili awards.

Entry fee is $85 and set up begins at 7:30 a.m. It is an all day event with winning chili recipes announced at 5 p.m.

There will be a $5 admission fee.

All proceeds will go the the Elks building fund as the club works to build a new Elks Lodge at 220 Missouri St.
