The Private Practice alum will guest-star on New Girl , TVGuide.com has confirmed.

Diggs will play Artie, a smooth and confident ladies' man whose attraction to Jess (Zooey Deschanel) threatens her new relationship with Nick (Jake Johnson).

Diggs, whose credits also include Rent and Daybreak , will appear in the seventh episode of the third season and begins shooting next week.

New Girl airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Fox.
