OBITUARY: Flora B. Mattingly

Flora B. Mattingly, 86, Viola, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Viola Cemetery. Visitation is 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Flora Mattingly Memorial Fund, in care of Speer Funeral Home, PO Box 27, Aledo, Ill. 61231.

Flora was born on Feb. 7, 1927, in Saline County to Amer and Gladys (Ewell) Pyles. She married Jack L. Mattingly in 1948.

He preceded her in death in 2001.

Flora was a devoted member of the Joy Baptist Church, where she touched all the children's lives by sewing them their own personal quilt. Her church and her family were her life.

Those left to cherish Flora's memory include her eight children and spouses: Peggy and Bill Schaechter of Viola; Jerry Mattingly of Florida; Kenny & Tammy Mattingly of Milan; Bobby Mattingly and Darla of Louisiana; the Rev. Johnny and Jackie Mattingly of Sterling; Garry and Melody Mattingly of North Carolina; Eddy Mattingly of Washington and Denny and Mary Mattingly of Florida; 25 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Irene Brobst.
