OBITUARY: Omer Stone

Omer Stone, 81 of Harrisburg, passed away on Aug. 24, 2013.

He was born on June 10, 1932, in Wolf Island, Mo., to Hubert and Eva (Penrod) Stone.

He is survived by his daughter Debby (Jerry) Gearhart of Valparaiso, Ind.; grandchildren, Emily (Garry) Dobson of South Bend, Ind., and Dana Gearhart of Valparaiso, Ind.; great grandchildren, Mikayla and Noah; and brother, John Stone of Harrisburg.

Omer was preceded in death by his beloved wife Wilma (Gobin) Stone; daughter, Janice Lee Stone; brothers, Melutis and Wayne Stone; and sisters, Alice Stone-Simmons and Betty Stone.

He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Harrisburg. He was an Electrician Welder for 30 years and a member of Local 697. Omer served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and flew with the 13th Bomb Squadron.

Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, Ind. 46368. Burial to follow at Heritage Cemetery, Portage, Ind. Visitation will be held 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at the funeral home.
