OBITUARY: Velma "Jean" Lambert

Velma "Jean" Lambert, 81, resident of Millstadt, formerly of Eldorado, passed away Monday Aug. 19, 2013, at Memorial Hospital of Belleville.

She was born in Cave-In-Rock on April 10, 1932, to the late James and Grace (Jones) Shore.

She was a member of the Christian Assembly Church in Millstadt where her friends called her "Sunshine" because of her beaming personality and joyous smile. She loved and cared for everyone put in her path from the youngest to the oldest. It is well known that Jean never met a stranger. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Clarence Lambert in 2003.

Surviving are three children, Gerald (Modonna) Lambert of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Sheila (Bart) Shults of Millstadt, Lucinda (Keith) Rogers of Eldorado; two brothers, James (Teresa) Shores of Eldorado, Gary (Delores) Shores of Manhattan; one sister, Loywonia (Tom) Davis Herold; eight grandchildren, Tracy (Jeff) Mott of Chester, Jared (Deanna) Lambert of Mascoutah, Brooke Shults of Millstadt, Luke (Lindsay) Shults of Waterloo, Madeline and Lydia Rogers of Eldorado; and four great-grandchildren, Jaden, Chance and Lexie Mott of Chester, Finleigh Lambert of Mascoutah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters Hazel Leon and Wilmarene (Butts) Braden.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday Aug. 22, 2013, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Coy officiating. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
