Storms did not dampen Eldorado's Independence Day event
With lightning flashing in the east and the west, the Eldorado Men's Club fireworks display went on as scheduled without a drop of rain to interrupt the event.
Men's Club members kept their eyes on the skies prior to the display and though there were some nervous spectators, storms stayed away during the course of the 45 minute blast of rockets set to music.
The Dollars for Scholars 5K Run/Walk saw its greatest participation ever with 72 contestants.
This year there were no sponsors for the kids games, but the Eldorado Lions Club had lines throughout the evening for corn dogs.
Chris Schimp added to the festivities by shooting off a cannon used in during the Civil War in 1862 by the Union Army in the Battle of Shiloh. The cannon heralded the beginning of the 5K Run/Walk and the fireworks display.
