Helen Irene King

Helen Irene King, age 99, of Du Quoin, Ill., passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 9:32 p.m. in Fairview Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Du Quoin, Ill.

Helen was born on Feb. 1, 1914 in Mulkeytown, Ill., a daughter to Harvey and Elsie (Bryant) McGuire. On April 2, 1937, she married Lawrence C. King in Du Quoin, Ill. and he preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1991. Helen was a faithful member of Gospel Assembly Church, Du Quoin, Ill. where she worked in the church library for many years. She had worked as a seamstress at the sewing factory, enjoyed sewing and loved taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Wayne (Cheryl) King of Du Quoin, Ill.; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jenn) King, Julie King and Bradley King; three great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Maddie and Corbin and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Janet King and two sisters, Dorothy Smith and Marie Morganthaler.

Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Gaylen Holden officiating. Interment will be in Old Du Quoin Cemetery, Du Quoin, Ill.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill. on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
