OBITUARY: Robert C. Beltz
Robert C. Beltz, of Louisville, Ky., went home to his heavenly father on March 20, 2013, surrounded by family. Bob was born in Harrisburg to Louie E. and Sibyl Golden Beltz who preceded him in death. Bob was also preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Betty Jane Reynolds of Paducah, Ky.
Bob graduated from Murray State University with a degree in music and later obtained many designations and a business degree. He was a member of Phi Mu Alpha and conducted Campus Lights in 1953. Bob was a member of the Jack Staulcup Orchestra who travelled the Midwest - playing venues in Kentucky, Missouri and Illinois. After graduation, Bob was a radio DJ in Paducah, Ky., until being hired by Motors Insurance Corporation in 1956. He started as a claims adjuster and retired in 1992 as Vice President over Canadian operations. He wrote many of the insurance programs used in the industry today. Bob volunteered with the International Association for Economic Development, visiting the Ukraine to help with programs for their developing country.
Bob was a faithful servant of God throughout his life. He loved the Lord, his family and music. Bob was co-vocational having been employed to direct music through the years: Galloway Methodist -Memphis, Tenn.; Baptist Church - Jonesboro, Ark.; Scenic Hills Baptist - Memphis, Tenn.; 1st Baptist - Greenwood, Miss.; E.B. Baptist Church - East Brunswick, N.J.; Baptist Church - Bloomington, Mich., and he was interim minister of music at Westport Road Baptist Church - Louisville, Ky. Bob was a professional member of the Detroit Symphony Chorus and Louisville Chorus. He often wrote and arranged music for individuals and choirs. Bob and Kitty Beltz helped create a program called Healing Hearts at their church to help those grieving from the loss of loved ones.
Bob is survived by his wife, Kitty Beltz, married in June 2003; and his sister Louise Beltz Smith (Sam) and their loving family. He is survived by a son, Robert Douglas Beltz (Lolly), grandchildren Brandy Beltz Simmons (Jason) and great-granddaughter London; grandchild Amiee Jane; daughter LeAnne Beltz McDonald (Gary), grandchildren Eric (Stephanie), John, Rachel (Brian) and great- granddaughter Olivia; daughter Tamara Beltz Adamson, grandson Robert Corey (Faith) and great-grandchildren Allie and Robert Jacob, and grandson Jeremy. He is also survived by beloved stepchildren Amanda and Kevin Gast; Jennifer and Mark Langley and grandson Levi; Amy Keith Lorenzen and granddaughter Riley; Tracey Monda and grandchildren Harrison and Emily.
His service is 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Westport Road Baptist Church, 9705 Westport Road, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery, 701 Baxter Ave. Louisville, Ky. Visitation is 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday March 22 at Arch L. Heady Funeral Home at Westport Village, Louisville, Ky. 40222 and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the church.
