Today's News: Our Take - Pilot Season: Mandy Moore to Star Opposite Benjamin McKenzie in CBS' The Advocates

Mandy Moore may find her way to TV this fall after all.

Moore, who was previously attached to ABC's Pulling, has landed the leading role opposite Benjamin McKenzie in CBS' The Advocates, TVGuide.com has learned.

In the drama pilot, a lawyer (Moore) and an ex-con ( Southland 's McKenzie) team up as "victim advocates," going to the very edge of the law to right wrongs and fight for the underdog. Moore's Shannon was once a take-no-prisoners Assistant District Attorney, who now works as a victims advocate after learning the truth about her tragic past and connection to McKenzie's Henry Bird.

Moore was previously tapped to co-star in Pulling alongside Jenny Slate and June Diane Raphael, but dropped out of the project last week, saying producers had started to move the character "in a different direction." 30 Rock 's Kristen Schaal has replaced her.

The Mentalist 's Bruno Heller will write and executive-produce The Advocates, which also stars CCH Pounder, Esai Morales and Brit Morgan.
