Syfy Picks Up Series from Battlestar Galactica Creator Ron Moore
Syfy has given a straight-to-series order for Helix, a thriller from Battlestar Galactica 's creator Ron Moore. According to The Hollywood Reporter , the network picked up the series for 13 episodes on Thursday.
Sounding like a mix of The Walking Dead and The Thing , Helix is about a team of scientists from the Centers of Disease Control who travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak, only to find themselves in a struggle that holds the key to mankind's salvation or total annihilation.
"With its well-drawn characters, taut drama and incredible production team, we couldn't be more excited to see this intense thrill ride of a series come to life," said Mark Stern, Syfy's president of original content.
Moore will executive-produce the thriller, alongside Lynda Obst, Steven Maeda and Cameron Porsandeh, who wrote the pilot.
