OBITUARY: Robert Joseph 'Bob' Hathaway
Robert Joseph "Bob" Hathaway, 65, of Main Street, Eldorado, died at his residence Oct. 25, 2012.
Bob was born at home in Muddy on Oct. 26, 1946, to the late John Woodrow and Bessie (Meacham) Hathaway.
Bob worked for Caterpiller, Sahara Coal, Kerr McGee and retired from American Coal. He was a member of and attended Scott Street Baptist Church.
On May 25, 1965, he married the former Brenda Bradley and she survives. Also surviving is his son Jody Lee and his fiancee Teresa of Golconda and six grandchildren, Shawna Hathaway of Eldorado, Colton Hathaway of Eldorado, Maycee Hester of Herod, Trinity Hathaway of Golconda, Kelsey and Lacey Hobbs of Golconda and a great-grandson Rodie Rayne Hathaway of Eldorado. Also surviving are his siblings, Jesse (Cindy) Hathaway of Eldorado, Alberta Hathaway of Eldorado, Diane (Rick) Dempsey of Eldorado, Debbie (Chuck) Drone of Eldorado and Sue Hathaway of Ridgway. Sisters-in-law Connie Hathaway and Carolyn Hathaway both of Eldorado and a host of Nieces and nephews survive him. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Betty Bradley, sister-in-law Tammy (Steve) Grathler and a brother-in-law Rod Bradley all of Eldorado.
Bob was preceded in death by his two sons, Rody Ray Hathaway on July 1, 1990, and Cody Joe Hathaway on June 9, 2003; two brothers Bill and Jerry Hathaway; a sister Wanda Eubanks; and nieces Kimberly Hathaway and Penny Hathaway; nephews Glen Keith Jennings, Dennis Ray Eubanks and Doug Eubanks; a great-nephew Matthew Cole; and a brother-in-law Ed Eubanks.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, poppy and brother. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He was a proud supporter of the Eldorado Eagles football and was a member of the "Chain Gang" for many years. He helped with the Junior Pro football and all sports when his sons were home. He loved to hunt and fish and looked forward to deer camp each year. Bob loved his community and the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday Oct. 27, 2012, at the Star General Baptist Church in Eldorado. The Rev. Art Watson and the Rev. Don Puckett will officiate. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. Saturday Oct. 27, 2012, until service time at the church.
Memorials in Bob's memory may be made to the Eldorado Youth Athletics and envelopes will be available at the church.
