OBITUARY: Jack Adrin Martin

Jack Adrin Martin, 85, of Eldorado, passed away at 12:40 p.m., Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at Ferrell Hospital.

Jack was born in Pisgah Community on Eagle Creek in Gallatin County on March 15, 1927, a son of the late Irene (Monroe) and Wallace Martin.

He was a member of Pleasant Valley Star General Baptist Church in Eldorado where he was a Deacon.

He was a graduate of Equality High School.

As a young man, Jack was an entrepreneur owning a coal mine, as a farmer on Eagle Creek and he later owned a DX Cafe and Service Station in the intersection at of rural Route 1 and state Route 13 in Gallatin County.

He worked as a feed salesman and District Sales Manager for MoorMan's Manufacturing Co. prior to his retirement. After retirement he owned and operated Southeastern Illinois Real Estate in Harrisburg and was an appraiser. He also completed auctioneer training and became a colonel.

He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.

He was the widower of Charlene (Brown) Martin. The were married January 13, 1947.

Jack is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Jones of Marion; two sons, Phillip M. Martin of Eldorado and David A. (Darla) Martin of Harrisburg; a brother, David (Maxine) Martin of Tennessee, grandchildren; Wesley (Amanda) Martin, Davy (Julie) Martin, Allen Jones and Andrew (Christy) Jones; great-grandchildren, David Jackson Martin, Samuel Douglas Martin, Owen Daniel Martin, Maci Grace Martin and Jacqueline Charlotte Jones; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and George; four sisters, Muriel Teegarden, Glenna Drabek, Elsie Coleman and Lousie Milinas; and twin great-granddaughters, Charli Grace and Ali Grace Martin.

Funeral service will be held at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, with Pastor Wesley Martin and Pastor Jeff Roth officiating. Burial will follow in Lindale Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Valley Star General Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
