OBITUARY: Lorene Elizabeth Hise Gibbons

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Lorene Elizabeth Hise Gibbons, of Houston, Texas, went to be with our Lord on July 22, 2012. She was born 92 years ago on Nov. 8, 1919, in Hodgeville, to Samuel M. and Bernice Hodge Hise.

She spent her youth primarily in the Golconda area, as well as in Harrisburg, where she graduated from high school. Lorene married the love of her life, Kelly E. Gibbons, in Harrisburg on Nov. 11, 1937, and celebrated 40 years of marriage before his death.

With Kelly&#39;s work as an F.B.I. Agent, they relocated frequently around the United States. Blessed with three children, Lorene devoted herself to her family. She was a wonderful mother, homemaker, volunteer for her children&#39;s schools and an avid reader. Lorene was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Rolla, Mo., and a 60-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Lorene E. Gibbons is survived by her three children: Jack E. Gibbons (Judy) of Wylie, Texas, Samuel K. Gibbons (Linda) of Clinton, Mo., and Cheryl Gibbons Ibarra (Jim) of Houston, Texas; by her seven gradnchildren: Janice L. Gibbons, Jeff E. Gibbons, Daniel C. Gibbons (Cathy), Gregory M. Gibbons (Nikki), Andrew K. Gibbons (Meghan), Kelly Ibarra Halling (Michael) and Samuel K. Gibbons Jr.; by five great-grandchildren: Geoffrey Walsh, Nathaniel Madonna, Shannon Gibbons, Brendan Gibbons and Alex Gibbons; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lorene is also survived by her brother, Samuel J. Hise of Galatia.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Kelly Gibbons; her sisters: Chloe Woodard, Elaine Alexander and Berlene Hise; and her brothers: Carl Hise, Clyde Hise, Woodrow Hise and Russell Hise.

Lorene will live forever in the hearts of those who love her.

Services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Burial will follow at Spring Valley Cemetery in Harrisburg.
