Obituary: Jon Carlson

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Jon L. Carlson, 67, of Metropolis, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away June 7, 2012, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.

He was born Dec. 19, 1944, in Geneva to Elmer and Olive (Carr) Carlson. He married Frances Buttrum on April 13, 1965; she preceded him on Dec. 9, 2008.

Jon was a retired truck driver from Lindell May Trucking Service. He had also worked as a union steward for the Teamsters at Wagner's. Jon loved to fish, do word search puzzles and watch wrestling. He was of the Baptist faith.

Jon is survived by a son, Jon and wife Jenna Carlson of Paducah, Ky.; daughter, Teresa and husband Bryan Thomas of Metropolis; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marge Thomas of Brookfield, Mo. and Olive Scott of Carrollton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bob Carlson, Sonny Carlson and Wilbert Carlson; and a sister, Carol Pierce.

Visitation was 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville. Burial will follow at the New Liberty Cemetery in Eddyville.
