Obituary: Donald Lee Younger
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Donald Lee Younger, 65, of Logan, died at 7:14 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2012, at his home with his family by his side.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Leffler-Poulson Funeral Home of Benton, with Bro. Bob Fitzpatrick officiating. Mr. Younger will be honored with military rites by the Thompsonville V.F.W. Post 15014, Thompsonville American Legion Post No. 1194, Army National Guard and the Illinois Patriot Guard, at the Logan Church of God Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at the Leffler-Poulson Funeral Home of Benton.
Donald was born on Dec. 8, 1946, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Ernie H. and Irene I. (Choate) Younger. He married the former Denise K. Pense on June 6, 1991, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 2009.
Mr. Younger formerly worked as a supervisor with the Franklin-Williamson Human Services of West Frankfort. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he received four Bronze Battle Stars and a Silver Star. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 15014 and American Legion Post No. 1194, both of Thompsonville, Disabled American Veterans Franklin County Chapter No. 51, and the AMVETS. He was a former pastor with The Church at Harrisburg.
Donald is survived by his four legged children, his children, Nathan Younger and wife Ashley of Taylor, Mich., Jonathan Younger and wife Brandi of Mount Vernon, Faith and husband Kenneth Snyder of Osburn, Idaho, Charity and husband Matt Settle of Mount Vernon, Kathy and husband Christopher Sullivan of Ina; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Brenda and husband Bob Fitzpatrick of Harrisburg, Danny Younger and wife Veronica of Benton, Dennis Younger and wife Mary of Ina, Judy Fairchild of Brownstown, Mich., twin brother Ronald Younger and wife Cathy of Sesser, Dianna and husband Jerry Middleton of Romulus, Mich.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Younger was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Denise Younger; three brothers, Earnest "Bud" Younger, Gary Younger and James Younger; a brother-in-law, John Fairchild; and a nephew, Gary Younger.
