Obituary: James 'Jim' Farrow

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[James "Jim" Farrow, 77, of Eldorado, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2012, at Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, Ind.

Jim was born in Cairo on Nov. 27, 1934, a son of the late Lorene and Pete Farrow.

He was a member of Du Quoin Gospel Assembly Church. Jim was active in his church and had a genuine love for music. He sang in the choir at the Du Quoin Church and was song leader at the Eldorado Gospel Assembly Church for 32 years prior to that.

He worked as a boilermaker in his earlier years and later in the sporting goods department at Walmart before retirement.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was the husband of Oleta Bevoine Farrow. They were married Dec. 22, 1957, in Paducah, Ky., at the Gospel Assembly Church by the Rev. W.T. Garland.

In addition to his wife Oleta, Jim is survived by a daughter, Melody (Danny) Stevens of Carterville; a brother, Mike (Amy) Farrow of Cario, his grandchildren and pride and joy, Alexis and Haley Stevens of Carterville; and several nieces and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip Farrow and William Farrow.

Funeral services will be at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2012, with the Rev. Gaylen Holden officiating. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery.

Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the funeral home.
