Obituary: John C. 'Jack' Wright

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Jack Wright, 74, died April 17, 2012 at his residence on Sandy Run Lake in Norris City.

John C. "Jack" Wright was born Feb. 9, 1938, to the late Charles and Kathryn (Gaskins) Wright in Harrisburg.

As a young man, Jack was active as a Boy Scout achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a graduate of Harrisburg High School with the Class of 1956. Jack played football for the Bulldogs. He also played on a team while serving in the US Army. Jack was a graduate of Southern Illinois University. He began his teaching and coaching career in the Carrier Mills school district. Coach Wright later joined the staff at his alma mater, HHS, until his retirement from teaching in 1994. He continued to serve the school district for many years doing painting and custodial duties.

Jack had a passion for life. He loved fishing, spending time with his buddies and attending ballgames. He was a proud Bulldog. Nothing made him happier than an encounter with a former student. Jack was a member of Harrisburg First Presbyterian Church for many years serving as a deacon. More recently he faithfully attended Raleigh First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Kay (Harbison) whom he married June 30, 1974; a brother, George and wife Pat Wright of Harrisburg; two sons, John C. Wright II and Bill Wright, both of Harrisburg; Rube Prince and wife PJ of Eldorado; and three grandchildren, Lauren, Jonathan and Katie Wright and Wesley Prince.

Jack's life will be celebrated Friday, April 20, 2012 at Reed Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until service time at 7 p.m. Dr. David Pinkerton will officiate. In lieu of flowers consider a donation to Raleigh Baptist Church Fellowship Hall fund or Harrisburg High School Athletic Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
