Obituary: Jackie D. Winters

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Jackie D. Winters, 79, Carrier Mills, died 9:40 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Heartland Regional Medical Center, Marion.

He was born on Oct. 13, 1932, to the late Julius Christian Winters and Bertha Lee Reynolds Winters. On Feb. 9, 1983, he married Judith Sherfield, who survives in Carrier Mills.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Jerry (Geraldine) Winters of Carrier Mills, Steve Winters of Carrier Mills and Tony Winters of Harrisburg; three daughters, Rosemary (Troy) Thornton of Huntingdon, Tenn., Paula Pickering of Harrisburg and Kristie Friend and companion Nick of West Frankfort; a sister, Lillian Dorrance of Metropolis; several nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant twin sons; four brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation was 10 a.m. to service time at noon Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with Billy Metcalf officiating. Burial was be in Providence Cemetery, Carrier Mills.
