Obituary: Dale Evetts

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Dale Evetts, 83, Carrier Mills, died Monday, March 5, 2012, at Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, Ind., surrounded by his family.

He was born in Carrier Mills on Sept. 10, 1928, to the late Ira and Maena Holmes Evetts. He was married on March 16, 1951, to the former Anna Hurley and she preceded him in death on May 27, 2008.

Dale was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Peabody Coal Company.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathi and her husband Virgil Sanders of Carrier Mills and Jennifer and her husband Steve Wilson of Carrier Mills.; two grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Pops," Tyler Wilson and Jillian Wilson, both of Carrier Mills; and a sister, Janet Dobrey of Bedford, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his brother, Bill Evetts.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2012, in the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. The Rev. Gordon Smith will officiate and friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Friday. Burial with military rites by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions will be in the Salem Cemetery.

The family would like memorials to be made to the Stonefort Missionary Baptist Church or to the Class of 2013 of the Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home on Friday.
