Obituary: Charles Edward 'Plug' Holmes
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Charles Edward "Plug" Holmes, 74, of Harrisburg, passed away at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at his residence.
He was born on Oct. 24, 1937, in Saline County to the late Roy and Mildred (Caldwell) Holmes. On June 30, 1962, he married Bonnie Mattingly and she survives.
Charles was a truck driver for Energy Transport. He was a member of North Wiliford Baptist Church and a former volunteer fire fighter.
Surviving family members include his wife, Bonnie Holmes of Harrisburg; daughter, Patti Holmes of Troy; daughter, Kimberly Holmes of Harrisburg; son, Kevin Holmes of Benton; son, David Holmes of Carrier Mills; daughter: Debbie Clark of Shawneetown; two brothers, Hubert Ford and Cecil Ford; five grandchildren, Alexis Holmes, Kristie Nernberger, Andrea Holmes, Samantha Lopez and Jonathon Holmes; great-grandchildren, Taylor Holmes, Dawson Griffith, Zachary Nernberger, Matthew Nernberger and Brylee Horn.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Mark Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg.
